Programın amacı; gebelik tanısı koyarak gerekli muayeneleri yapabilen; doğum öncesi anne ve fetüsü izleyerek bakımını yapabilen; doğum anında annenin bakımını yapabilen; fetüsü izleyip normalden sapmaları belirleyebilen; normal doğum yaptıran, gerektiğinde makat doğum yaptıran, anne ve yeni doğandaki anormal durumları belirleyebilen; gerektiğinde plasentayı elle çıkarabilen ve uterus kontrolü yapabilen; yenidoğanın bakım ve izlemini yapabilen; annenin doğum sonu dönemde bakım ve izlemini yapabilen, riskli durumlarda sevk eden; jinekoloji ve doğum ve doğum sonrası dönemde tüm kadın üreme yollarıyla ve doğan çocukların bakımını yapabilen; aile planlaması uygulamalarına katılan; gebelikte, dahili ve cerrahi sorunların bakımını başlatabilen ebeler yetiştirmektir. 

Ebelik  Lisans Programından mezun olanlara “Ebe” unvanı verilmektedir.

Ebeler, koruyucu sağlık hizmetlerinde çocuk sağlığı ve aile planlaması merkezlerinde ve sağlık hizmetlerinin sosyalleştirildiği bölgelerde ve tedavi edici sağlık kurumlarında, doğumevleri ve hastanelerin doğum kliniklerinde görev alabilirler.
