Orientation Training Held for New Students at the Vocational School of Health Services

Mersin University Vocational School of Health Services organized an “Orientation Program” to help students joining the school in the 2026-2027 academic year adapt to university life, academic processes, and campus culture.

The program, held on September 25, 2026, at the Nevit Kodallı Chamber Music Application and Research Center on the Yenişehir Campus, was conducted in two sessions. The first session, starting at 10:00 AM, included students from the Operating Room Services, Anesthesia, First and Emergency Aid, and Medical Documentation and Secretarial programs; the second session, held at 3:00 PM, included students from the Medical Imaging Techniques, Medical Laboratory Techniques, and Elderly Care programs.

The program began with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem, followed by an opening speech delivered by Prof. Dr. Gülay Altun Uğraş, Director of the Vocational School of Health Services. Welcoming the new students to the Mersin University family, Prof. Dr. Uğraş stated that university life is not solely about academic success but is also a crucial period for personal development, acquiring professional skills, and gaining a strong vision for the future. Emphasizing the importance of students making the most of the school's academic staff and practical training facilities throughout their education, Prof. Dr. Uğraş wished them a successful and productive university life.

During the program, the Mersin University promotional film was screened, providing information about the academic, social, and cultural opportunities the university offers to students. Afterward, Instructor... Lecturer İbrahim Duman delivered an informative presentation covering the general operations of the vocational school, relevant regulations, academic processes, examination procedures, and campus life.

The orientation program also featured a promotional video for the Elderly Care Program, which has applied for MEDEK accreditation this year. Through this video, students were informed about the school's quality assurance and accreditation initiatives.

The program continued with video screenings regarding university life and current technological developments. Students were shown a video featuring Prof. Dr. Cem Ali Gizir’s talk titled "Being a University Student," as well as an informative video titled "Guide to Using Artificial Intelligence in University Academic Activities," prepared by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Onur Uca.

At the conclusion of the orientation program, an "Orientation Evaluation Survey" was administered via a QR code displayed on the screen to gather students' views and suggestions. The program ended after the collection of student feedback.
